Is it gauche to buy your partner toys you want them to use with you?

Is the toy single-partner? (i.e. insertable, not easily cleaned, not easily covered, likely to draw blood, that sort of thing) If not, you’re probably in the clear. If so, hmm…

Oh, that’s a good way of thinking about it.

I think it’s only gauche if it’s really a gift for you disguised as a gift for your partner. As long as you have some reason to believe they’d enjoy the toy, go for it!

It is perfectly acceptable provided you don’t pretend you are doing something else.
Obviously, as Orion pointed out, if it isn’t single-partner and you assume they would like playing with it, you’re in the clear.
If it is single partner, then obviously the gift is the chance to use that shiny thing on YOU!
One would like to think one’s partner would enjoy something guaranteed to get a strong reaction, but then that might just be my personal reaction-junkie bias showing.

No more gauche than someone buying lingerie for a partner or a shoe fetishist buying shoes for a partner.

I’m with Victor on this one.
